Building for Staffing Teams
One of the most powerful things a group of staffing professionals
can do to ramp up effectiveness is to step outside the day-to-day
grind to examine how the team functions - as a team. Are you a
group of individuals working side-by-side, or are you functioning
as an interdependent, high performance team?

The
Recruitment Team Profile© provides
this opportunity by allowing staffing teams to assess their teamwork
competency level based on a number of teaming skills and abilities.
Goals are then set for achieving a high level of team performance
within a given timeframe, usually six months to a year. During
the second half of the program, teams create a game plan
to achieve their stated goals, assigning accountability for the
various initiatives that are created.
Recruitment-Based
Values - A value is a quality or attribute that governs
how we live and behave. Because values result in actions, they
directly affect those around us, including employees, clients,
candidates, and other external customers. How do values such as
"integrity" and "responsibility" play out in the staffing world?
Is it possible that different interpretations among team members
result in the conflicts and disconnects that eat up time and energy,
cause frustration and ultimately impact customer focus and even
personal well-being? In this module teams engage in an exercise
to identify and align on values that drive excellent recruiting
performance. Clarifying the meaning and effect of the team's
values and creating a commitment to revisit them regularly provides
a stable framework that impacts daily decision making. The results
are actions that are in alignment with the stated purpose
and principles of the organization, enabling goal achievement,
customer focus and professional satisfaction.
Team
Operating Principles - Is there really a war for talent,
or does collaboration provide greater results? At the root of
every team's performance is a set of creative principles that
function much like the laws of physics. And like the laws of physics,
they operate whether we know about them or not (whether we like
them or not). Drawing upon a number of tried and true success
strategies such as to think is to create, win-win and "givers
gain", recruiting teams distinguish and explore a series of
powerful principles that they can apply to their day-to-day
recruiting activities to produce outstanding results.
Team
Purpose - What service do we provide as staffing professionals?
Why do we do what we do? What difference do we make? And finally,
how does my job as a Recruiter help me fulfill my personal mission?
In order to do something really well, it is important to know
not only how to do it but why you are doing it. Purpose
is the real juice that calls teams forth into action every day
through successes and challenges alike. Exploring these important
and fundamental questions enables teams to clarify and align on
their roles as staffing professionals within the organization
and connect with their shared passion for the business.
Results are clarity of purpose, increased focus, energy, vitality
and full self-expression.
Team
Vision - Mission and vision are often confused with one
another, which can result in a lack of focus or direction. Knowing
why you are doing something is the hallmark of Purpose. Where
you are headed is a function of Vision. Vision is the ability
to see beyond the present reality to invent what does not yet
exist. It involves operating out of the imagination instead of
memory. And it is the key to leveraging time and gaining commitment.
What many organizations do not understand is that shared visions
emerge from personal visions, and if the personal vision of each
individual is not addressed developing the team vision, compliance
- and not commitment - results. In this module, teams look out
six months to a year to create a shared vision and detailed
road map that results in a quantum increase in creativity
and productivity.
Game
Plan and Accountabilities - Once a team has created a shared
vision, the next step is to create a game plan with a well defined
accountability system that will ensure the journey is taken and
that the team arrives at the intended destination. This important
segment of Recruitment Team Mastery©
is devoted to the development of key initiatives, action steps
and accountability systems to achieve the high performance
goals set by the team. And unlike many visionary initiatives that
fall by the wayside as a result of time considerations, this module
includes a system to ensure consistent follow up.
Recruiter
Behavior Matrix© - Ever wonder why you get along better
with one teammate than another? The
Recruiter Behavior Matrix© is one
of the "secret weapons" of Recruitment
Team Mastery©, designed to deepen awareness of self and
teammates in a fun and engaging manner. This revealing personality
exercise designed specifically for recruiters has a tremendous
impact on working relationships and contributes to the development
of team synergy. This is a favorite among teams that have participated.
